Upward Projects is Hiring a Graphic Design Intern!

Graphics Intern

Upward Projects is looking for a rockstar graphic design intern to join our in-house marketing team! This is a great opportunity to gain experience working with an innovative, local company in a fun, fast-paced environment. You’ll be working with five unique restaurant brands, as well as helping to create marketing and event campaigns.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Work directly with Graphic Designer and Marketing Manager on projects
  • Assist Graphic Designer in creating company graphics (corporate and store collateral, coupons, apparel, advertisements, signage, campaigns, social media graphics)
  • Update printed and online menus
  • Brainstorm ideas for marketing campaigns
  • Photograph events and product for internal training and marketing
  • Facilitate events and office duties, as needed

Educational Objectives:

  • Gain professional design experience with an exciting, innovative, local company
  • Improve efficiency in technical work practices (Adobe quick keys, file management, etc.)
  • Experience working with different departments and sourcing vendors
  • Learn about designing within brand standards
  • Improve design and communication skills

Required Qualifications: 

  • Technical experience in MS Office, Mac OS, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat)
  • Experience with social media platforms (with a focus on Facebook and Instagram)
  • Confident understanding of design principles and basic layout
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail and advanced proofreading skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively, as well as independently, in deadline-sensitive environment
  • Eager to take initiative in getting assistance and making suggestions
  • Strongly prefer recent graphic design graduates, but will consider students in their junior or senior year with advanced skills

Bonus points:  

  • Experience with a digital SLR and photo editing skills
  • Experience in video editing
  • Illustration skills
  • Experience with copywriting/ blog writing

The Deets:

  • This internship is a part time, paid, hourly position. Compensation will depend on experience.
  • This fall internship is from the beginning of August until December 1st, 2015 (flexibility with start and end dates)
  • Flexible hours: 20-30 hours a week during office hours (Monday – Friday, 8:30 – 5:30)
  • Laptop with Adobe Creative Cloud and Dropbox provided
