The Golden Rule of Mixology

You can follow this ratio to make many well-known cocktails!!  This formula is known as the golden rule of mixology and over the next few weeks we’ll be showing you recipes you can put to use with it.  In the meantime, experiment with the golden rule!!  Simply mix 3 parts spirit, with 2 parts liquor, and 1 part citrus to see what sort of drink you can come up with.  Below we’ve listed some common types of spirits, liquors, and citrus.

Spirit (Your Booze!): Rum, vodka, whiskey, gin, and tequila

Liquor (A low proof mixer): Cointreau, sweet vermouth, orange curacao, grand marnier, and lillet

Citrus (Also known as a “sour”): Lemon, lime, orange, and grapefruit.
